Lake Tekapo, New Zealand: Astro-Café

Mt. John 位於 Mackenzie 盆地中心，垂直高度約 300 公尺，此路全長 4 公里，駕駛 8 分鐘即可抵達山頂的停車場。入口處會收取每台車 8 紐幣的費用，用以維護這條私人道路。

Astro 咖啡廳位於海拔 1,036 公尺的 Mt. John 山頂，在這裡可以遠眺 Lake Tekapo 全景，整個 Mackenzie 盆地和南阿爾卑斯山脈也能盡收眼底。更被《孤獨星球》譽為「也許是世界上地點最好的咖啡廳」。

2012 年，4,367 平方公里的 Mackenzie 盆地被宣佈為 Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve，該地區嚴格控制光害。是世界最大、南半球第一個保護區。此外，也是第一個被認定為金級的保護區，其原因是 Mackenzie 地區的天空幾乎是零光害。

Mount John Observatory

建立於上世紀六十年代，基於這裡的高晴空率，大氣的高穩定性及高清晰度，這裡也被認為是紐西蘭最適合做天文研究的地點。

Mount John Walkway

徒步約 1 小時 30 分鐘。這條步道的起點位於 Tekapo 溫泉旁，步道穿過一片坡勢較陡的森林，以及一些草叢茂盛的山坡到達山頂。

Mount John Summit Circuit Track

徒步約 3 小時。經過 Tekapo 溫泉繼續沿著位於 Lake Tekapo 西面的道路前進，可以抵達約翰山山頂環道。
